Courtesy photoKansas State University got approval to raise tuition by 5% during Wednesday night’s Kansas Board of Regents meeting.
The increase will be the biggest hike in tuition K-State has had since 2019.
Wichita State University will increase tuition by 5.9% and Fort Hays State University tuition will increase 7%. K-State, Emporia State University, the University of Kansas, and Pittsburgh State University will all increase tuition by 5%.
During the 2022-23 academic year, a 15-credit-hour semester was $4,744 and with the 5% increase, students will now pay $4,981, a $237 increase.
During COVID-19, Regents schools kept tuition flat. However, last year multiple universities asked for a 3% increase in tuition rates and were denied. Officials cited inflation-related costs as a main reason for raising tuition.
