A Wichita man arrested for child sex crimes appeared via Zoom at about 1 p.m. Tuesday in Riley County District Court.
The previous time Matthew Hinton, 36, and his attorney Cole Hawver appeared, Judge William Malcolm granted a continuance. Hawver requested the motion because the defense team awaited “electronic discovery” as evidence in the case.
Police arrested Hinton July 14 after receiving a call about two people engaging in “inappropriate behavior.” Upon arrival, officers found him in a vehicle with a 14-year-old girl on Fremont Street in City Park.
Hinton’s charges include one count of indecent liberties with a child and two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. He’s held at Riley County jail on a $200,000 bond for the alleged crimes.
The defendant will appear again Oct. 10 for a preliminary hearing status.
